Laura & Botero - 2nd Level Freestyle
“The music is amazing and we’re both SO excited about it. The changes in the music line up so well with the choreography. It’s so fun to ride and so freaking cool!”
For Laura’s 2025 freestyle, she chose upbeat Taylor Swift songs with strong dynamic contrasts. These selections allowed us to really highlight Botero’s mediums and marry the choreography with the music, resulting in a score over 70% and strong artistic marks her first time out! Laura is well on her way to a return trip to USDF Nationals with this freestyle!
Christy & Moxis Finalee - Training Level Freestyle

Christy and I worked together to create a training level freestyle for her and her mare, Moxis Finalee. Christy’s freestyle was so fun! She chose music by Portugal. The Man, one of her favorite artists. I still think of them coming down the centerline, every time I hear the song Feel it Still. Christy’s freestyle was a very successful use of upbeat, pop music — with lyrics even! — to bring out the best in Finalee’s movement.
Laura & Botero HGF - First Level “Swiftie” Freestyle
After placing in the ribbons at USDF Finals in 2023, Laura was hungry for a new challenge and vowed to be back in 2024 with a first level freestyle. We collaborated on choreography that highlighted Botero’s strengths in the lateral work and his powerful canter lengthening, with input from Laura’s coach on the finishing touches. I love it when a coach is able to weigh in on the process! Then we set it to music by Laura’s all-time favorite artist, Taylor Swift. We used instrumental covers of her favorite Taylor songs, to match Botero’s energy and keep the spotlight on the horse. Laura and Botero received scores in the 70’s and 80’s all season, capping it off with a Reserve Championship at USDF Region 2 and 7th place at USDF Finals!

Brittany & Chanting Jezebelle - First Level Freestyle
Yes, that’s me and my horse Jezebelle. This freestyle is where it all began. Jezebelle is an Arabian/Belgian draft cross, so it was important and a bit tricky to choose music that complimented her movement and didn’t make her look heavy or bogged down. Judges and crowds alike enjoyed the light, happy, and somewhat sentimental instrumental tracks that I chose. To me, this freestyle represented the emotions and accomplishments of over a decade of partnership with my special, first horse.
We showed it several times at USDF-recognized and local GMO shows with scores always in the mid-to-high 60’s, and even brought it to Region 2 Championships in 2019. And when Jezebelle needed to retire from showing in 2023, we threw a party and rode this freestyle, one last time.
Kimberly Dunlap - Second & Third Level Freestyles
It has been a privilege to collaborate with my coach Kimberly Dunlap on the music production for two of her freestyles! In 2018 we created the “Epic Journey” Third Level Freestyle for her beautiful mare Poppy, using music from epic fantasy movies to highlight the warmblood mare’s elegance. This freestyle won many awards, including 2018 ADA 3rd Level Freestyle Open Year-End Champion and 2018 GLRSSC 3rd Level Freestyle Open Champion.
In 2022 we created a a totally fun and energetic freestyle for her QH mare Edie, using the tunes Say Geronimo by Sheppard , Dancing in the Dawn by Jake Scott and Best Day of my Life by American Authors to celebrate the idea of embracing the moment and having fun with your horse. This one was a crowd pleaser that won 2022 ADA/USDF 2nd Level Freestyle Champion.

Olivia & Abby - “Bang Bang” Pas De Deux
Several years ago I had a great time working with 2 young riders from the Benchmark Dressage show team to create a Training Level Pas De Deux set to a popular song they loved, “Bang Bang” by Jessie J feat. Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj. We blended music from the original song with karaoke tracks a fun dance remix to create variety and dynamic range. Working on a Pas de Deux was a great chance for these riders to develop their timing, equitation, and teamwork.
